Brad Taylor - DEAD MAN'S HAND
New York Times bestselling author and former special forces officer Brad Taylor ups the ante and goes all in talking his latest edge-of-your-seat Pike Logan thriller, DEAD MAN'S HAND.
DEAD MAN'S HAND:
To finally end the war between their nations, a rogue band of Ukranian partisans known as the Wolves teams up with members of Russia’s military intelligence to assassinate Vladimir Putin.
But Putin is aware of the traitors in his midst and assigns the loyal commander of the Russian National Guard to root them out. It’s a mission Victor Petrov is expected to undertake after he prevents Sweden from joining NATO-by assassinating a deputy minister of foreign affairs.
After receiving intelligence about the threat in Sweden, the United States sends Pike Logan to identify Petrov’s target-only for him to get caught in the crossfire between Putin’s agents and the Wolves. When the smoke clears, Pike makes no effort to stop the Wolves on their ultimate mission, believing it just, until he discovers that their operation has unimaginable consequences.
For Putin is preparing a devastating endgame: activating the Dead Man’s Hand nuclear response that will launch Russia’s missiles in the event of his death. . .

    Started strong, as a really intriguing espionage novel starring Kane a denied access spy which means he operates in areas that are denied to most; Russia, Iran and Iraq. 60% of the novel was Kane hunting down the worlds most feared terrorist and this was a great manhunt spanning multiple countries. But then, he starts doing flashbacks to other missions, submarine travel, then goes straight into science fiction, time travel, post apocalyptic world and then back to the initial manhunt. Pages 1-400, I would recommend it. After that when the book just takes a very different turn, I couldn’t wait to be finished with it and be done with the novel. At nearly 800 pages, I wouldn’t rush to read this one. If it was half this length, I’d be more open to telling more people about this. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for Hayes next piece of work, but will certainly be hesitant to pick it up as quickly as I did his sophomore work. 2/5 stars.

    Ray Porter is the man! Also, sometimes the woman. One of my favorite narrators.

  • @sidnac6545
    @sidnac6545 2 місяці тому

    Ray Porter is a brilliant narrator and I think he does an excellent job of all the voices! I don't listen with the expectation that he's going to sound exactly like a female when he reads those parts of the book. What's more important to me is that he makes each voice distinguishable from the others in the book and that he speaks with clarity and good inflection and shows emotion when necessary. I often search Audible specifically for books that he narrates because I know that he does such an amazing job. Tysm Ray - you're very talented!😊
